PNP: No Confirmed Threat In Tolosa, Leyte

The Philippine National Police on Thursday assured the public that there is no confirmed or imminent security threat in Tolosa, Leyte, following the circulation of online messages alleging possible violence in the town.

In a statement, the PNP said concerned police units had already validated and assessed the reports circulating on social media.

“Based on our assessment as of this time, there is no confirmed or validated threat — actual or imminent,” the PNP said.

Despite this, police said security monitoring remains in place, particularly in coordination with local authorities, schools, and other concerned stakeholders.

The PNP issued the clarification amid public concern over alleged threat reports spreading online in Tolosa, where messages had triggered alarm among residents, parents, and students.

Authorities urged the public to remain calm and avoid sharing unverified posts that could cause panic or confusion.

“The public is advised to remain calm and refrain from sharing unverified information that may cause unnecessary alarm or confusion,” the PNP said.

The police force also reminded social media users to verify information before reposting or forwarding messages, especially those involving public safety.

Individuals with information on possible security concerns were advised to report directly to the nearest police station or through official PNP communication channels to allow proper verification and response.

The PNP said police units in Leyte remain alert and ready to respond should any verified security concern arise.

“The Philippine National Police assures the people of Leyte that all information affecting public safety is being closely monitored and assessed,” it said.
