LTO Reminds Motorists to Renew Licenses, Vehicle Registration Before July 31 Deadline

The Land Transportation Office (LTO) has reminded motorists to renew their driver’s licenses and motor vehicle registrations before July 31, 2026, to avoid penalties and other corresponding sanctions.

The agency said the extended validity of driver’s licenses, conductor’s licenses, student driver’s permits, and vehicle registrations will expire on July 31, as provided under Memorandum Circular No. MVL-2026-5157.

After the deadline, expired licenses, permits, and registrations that remain unrenewed will be subject to existing regulations and applicable penalties for late renewal.

Motorists were also advised to coordinate with their nearest LTO offices or check the agency’s official social media pages for verified updates and announcements.

The LTO earlier implemented a three-month extension on the validity of licenses and registrations starting April 2026, covering driver’s licenses, conductor’s licenses, student permits, and motor vehicle registrations.

During the extension period, penalties for late renewal were temporarily waived.

The agency said the extension was implemented in response to President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s declaration of a national energy emergency due to rising fuel prices linked to the conflict in the Middle East.
