The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) has disowned circulating social media posts that used the image of AFP Chief of Staff Gen. Romeo S. Brawner Jr. to promote or encourage participation in political activities and mass protests.
In a statement, the AFP said the posts were unauthorized and did not reflect the position of the military organization.
“The AFP is a professional, unified, and non-partisan institution. We do not endorse, support, or participate in partisan political activities. Our actions are guided solely by the Constitution, the rule of law, and our sworn duty to the Republic,” the AFP said.
The military urged the public to exercise discernment and verify information before sharing online content that may falsely suggest AFP involvement, support, or endorsement of political activities.
The AFP also reaffirmed that it remains professional, solid, disciplined, and focused on its constitutional mandate to protect the people, secure the state, and uphold the integrity of the national territory.
