The Philippine Army and the United States Army Pacific (USARPAC) have completed a three-week cyber defense training activity aimed at strengthening their ability to respond to emerging threats in the digital battlefield.

The Cyber Exercise – Foundational Training Activity (CyberEx FTA), held under Salaknib Exercise 2026, concluded on May 29 at The Signal School in Fort Bonifacio, Taguig City.

The training focused on improving cyber defense tactics, techniques and procedures, including cyber incident investigation, network traffic analysis, incident reporting and scenario-based response operations.

Through lectures and hands-on exercises, Philippine Army personnel sharpened their technical skills and operational readiness in cyberspace, a domain increasingly critical to modern military operations and national security.

Signal Regiment Commander Brig. Gen. Jamel P. Samonte said the activity highlighted the need to continuously develop cyber capabilities, strengthen interoperability with allied partners and prepare military cyber defenders for evolving threats.

He also thanked the USARPAC team for its support and commitment to advancing shared cyber defense objectives.

Army Chief Lt. Gen. Antonio G. Nafarrete said the Army continues to strengthen its cybersecurity posture through system upgrades and sustained personnel training as part of its broader modernization program.

The Philippine Army said the activity forms part of ongoing efforts to build a more capable, adaptive and resilient force amid growing security challenges in both physical and digital domains.
