Three Chinese nationals and a Filipino found themselves in handcuffs last Tuesday after the Philippine National Police Anti-Kidnapping Group swooped in on Angeles City, closing the book on a high-stakes abduction.
The ordeal began at 11:27 p.m. last Sunday along the bustling Friendship Highway. A 37-year-old Chinese national, calling San Fernando City home, watched his night take a terrifying turn when he was snatched right in front of an establishment. Dragged into a nightmare of captivity, the victim soon became the center of a massive financial demand as his captors allegedly screamed for a staggering P61 million ransom.
Fortunately, the pressure from the AKG began to close in. By Tuesday, the victim was miraculously released, dumped back “at the same area where he was taken.” Though battered and bruised from his ordeal, he managed to secure the medical treatment he desperately needed.
Law enforcement quickly pieced together the puzzle, identifying the men behind the plot. The police net caught three Chinese nationals operating under aliases: “XL,” a resident of Angeles City; along with “LHW” and “Chen Chen,” both hailing from Porac, Pampanga. Joining them was a local accomplice, a Filipino identified by the alias “RDX,” also from Porac.
With the suspects cornered and the victim safe, police investigators wastefully bypassed any delays, formally filing charges of kidnapping and serious illegal detention against the quartet last Wednesday.
